The Motorcycle Betrayal Poems [Inscribed]

WAKOSKI, Diane

WAKOSKI, Diane

NY: Simon and Schuster, 1971. Second printing. 160pp. Patterned paper boards; dust jacket. Light bumping to bottom corners; light toning to edges of boards and textblock; former owner's name penned to ffep. Unclipped jacket with interior tape reinforcements at spine ends. Very good.

Presentation copy of this landmark work of confessional feminist poetry by American poet Diane Wakoski (b. 1937); title page signed, dated, and inscribed at length by Wakoski to Jean Doreski, the ex-wife of poet and critic Bill Doreski, with a pleasing allusion to the work's title: "For Jean – in hopes that all the men in yr life are as efficient as the machines / love coming like a new moon, invisible except by your knowledge of its definitions / the moon never disappearing for long enough for us to forget." Jacket design by Bob Nemser, with rear panel photograph of Wakoski by Tom Victor.
