KIRBY, Robert, ed.

KIRBY, Robert, ed.

Minneapolis and New Haven: Robert Kirby and Giant Ass Publishing, 1991-1992. 4 vols. [20]; [24]; [28]; [36]pp; b&w illus. Saddle-stapled in illustrated wraps. Light soiling, toning and wear to covers; dampstains to lower fore-corners of 1 and 3; mild foxing to leaf-edges of 4. About very good.

First four (of five total) issues of this anthology queer comics zine. Edited and with contributions throughout by celebrated American cartoonist Robert Kirby (b. 1962); notably his first serial publication, predating his long-running syndicated comic Curbside, and other anthology zine series including Boy Trouble. Contents entirely comic strips exploring with humor and honesty various aspects of the queer experience. First issue features work exclusively by Kirby; subsequent issues with contributions from Diane DiMassa, Jeffrey Kennedy, Nick Leonard, Junebug, Nick Leonard, Roxxie and Michelle Rau, Roberta Kennedy, Melissa Rassmussen, et al. A charming and important publication, which played an outsize role in ushering in a new wave of 1990s queer comics. Scarce in the trade; OCLC locates eight institutions holding copies.
