Detroit: The Alternative Press, [1976]. Brass postcard, 3-1/4 x 5-3/8, with a wire and bead assemblage to recto; foil title sticker to upper corner of verso. Some oxidation to brass, as expected; else fine.
Multiple created by American artist Carol Steen (b. 1943) for inclusion in the sixth issue of Ken and Ann Mikolowski's Alternative Press subscription series. According to Ken Mikolowski, the work was produced in an edition of 500 (Kosick, Dispatches From the Avant Garage, p. 108). Our publication date taken from Art Poetry Melodrama : 20 Years of the Alternative Press (The Detroit Institute of Arts, 1990); curiously though, the title label on verso here gives "Detroit" as the location of The Alternative Press, when in fact they had relocated to Grindstone City in 1974.
