Sonic Matters, Sonic Kollaborations

NY: Printed Matter, Inc., 2000. First edition, one of 500 copies. [226]pp; illus. 4to; wire-bound in plain mylar wraps. Near fine.

A decidedly lo-fi presentation of materials by and about New York art rock band Sonic Youth. Photocopied throughout, and inclusive of such things as show flyers, set lists, press reviews, photos, interviews, lyrics and other writings by Thurson Moore and Kim Gordon, etc. Per the introduction by Todd Alden: "The aim of this structure is not, simply speaking, to cast light on the history of the band's numerous forays into art, but rather, to re-broadcast the band's border crossings from art (and music) into the detritus of everyday life." Published on the occasion of a related exhibition at Printed Matter, June 6-September 9, 2000. Apparently reprinted in 2002, with both quite scarce now in the trade. Of this first edition, OCLC locates six holdings.
