ROBERTS, JoAnn
King of Prussia, PA: Creative Design Services, 1993. 100pp. Saddle-stapled in illustrated wraps. Very good, with sticker removal scar to upper front cover, light soiling and wear.
A collection of brief, conversational "editorials and essays" on various crossdressing and transgender issues—homophobia within the TV/TS community, violence against women and its implications for trans people, crossdressers in the military, ways to get involved politically, etc.—most of which originally appeared in Renaissance News, LadyLike, and related publications. JoAnn Roberts (d. 2013) was the publisher of LadyLike magazine, and author of the Art & Illusion series of crossdressing guides, which she issued through her Creative Design Services imprint; she was also a co-creator of the Transgender Forum website. Though identifying as a crossdresser, Roberts was deeply committed to the broader trans rights movement, and was a co-founder of numerous organizations, including National Transgender Advocacy Coalition, the Congress of Transgender Organizations, the Transgender Alliance for Community, etc. Her oft-reprinted "Bill of Gender Rights" is included in the present publication, of which OCLC locates only three holdings.
