RESURGENCE YOUTH MOVEMENT
RESURGENCE YOUTH MOVEMENT
NY: Resurgence Youth Movement, [1965]. [16] leaves, mimeographed to rectos only. 4to. Side-stapled in illustrated wraps. Light toning and soiling to covers; diagonal crease to bottom front fore-corner; rear cover loose at bottom staple. Very good.
Fifth of twelve total issues of this periodical issued by the Resurgence Youth Movement (RYM), a radical group co-founded in 1964 by high-school dropout Jonathan Leake and Walter Caughey, and noted for a manic counterculture positionality inclusive of anarchism, surrealism, and anti-capitalist labor movements. After the death of Caughey in 1967 under suspicious and ultimately unsolved circumstances, the group and its periodical were disbanded. Contents here include a 1965 music in review article by Caughey (Dylan, Stones, Byrds); "Burn Baby Burn : Teen Reevolut Bulletin No. 4"; a rather stream-of-consciousness film column, "Film Anarchy Surrealism"; "Resurgence Europe"; a two-page "Account of the Resurgence Youth Movement"; poems by Robert Ernsthal, Walter Caughey, Charles Smith, David Chaloner, Thutoh Fenderson.
