REDDIX, Jacob L.
Jackson: University Press of Mississippi, 1974. First edition. xi, 238pp; b&w frontis and plates; index. Blue cloth; dust jacket. Light toning to endpapers, else about fine in a price-clipped jacket with mild rubbing at spine ends. With an inscription signed "Shirley" on the title page (see note below).
Uncommon memoir detailing the life and career of Black American educator Jacob L. Reddix (1897-1973), who worked at the Farm Security Administration in the 1930s, and served from 1940 to 1967 as the president of Mississippi Negro Training School (now Jackson State University). This copy warmly inscribed and dated in 1989 we surmise by Reddix's daughter, Shirley Reddix Vanderpool, one of the book's dedicatees: "To Peggi: ... As you embark upon your story in relation to your times! Shall treasure your visit with me and look forward to many more pleasant times together!"
