Handbill advertising six performances by UK theatre company People Show (two titled "People Show 53" and four titled "People Show 54"), staged from December 11-16, 1973 at the Contemporanea art exhibition in Rome. Formed in 1966 by polymathic poet Jeff Nuttall and others, the People Show is the longest-running UK experimental theatre troupe; core members at the time of these performances included Mark Long, Laura Gilbert, Mike Figgis and Jose Nava. Recognized as one of the most important art exhibitions of the 20th century, Contemporanea was spearheaded by Italian critic and curator Achille Bonito Oliva, and ran from November 1973 until February 1974 in the underground parking garage at the Villa Borghese.
