ORACLE
Corte Madera, CA: The Oracle, [1968, per "©1968 Rich Charter" on cover image]. Unbound newsprint tabloid, 15 x 11-1/4 in. 15, [1]pp., illus., many in one or more colors. Horizontal fold; rubbing to covers; moderate toning. Very good or better.
Scarce hippie-era tabloid featuring striking color art and an exclusive focus on pan-religious spirituality. Text excerpts, most in translation, from the Daw-Der-Jing [Tao Te Ching], The Prajnaparamita-Hridaya Sutra or Hannya-Shin-Gyo, the Lord's Prayer, "The Purity of Life" by Inayat Khan, and The Bhagavadgita. Rear cover features an advertisement for a television special titled "Together" featuring speakers and musicians including The Grateful Dead. This issue unnumbered, and though the copyright page states "published monthly" we find no evidence of subsequent issues. Regardless, OCLC locates only one copy of what seems to be the same publication, at UC Berkeley. Not to be confused with the San Francisco Oracle or The Oracle of Southern California.
