MYERS, Jo-Anne Echevarria

[NY]: Jo-Anne Echevarria Myers, 1983. No. 29 of 100 copies. [34]pp. Oblong 4to. Glued in wraps with black paper over spine. Bumping to fore-corners, lightly echoing throughout textblock, surface wear to spine tape, light soiling to covers; about very good. Signed, inscribed, and dated in 2001 by Myers to limitation page. With one-page laid-in ALS, folded in thirds, as detailed below.

Association copy of this artist's book documenting a mail-based collaborative project in which Myers sent one-dollar bills to various artists, asking them to "do something to the dollar and send it back to me." Contents consist of photo-reproductions of the responses Myers received, most of which involve some physical or decorative alteration to the bill in question. Participants include Sonia Balassanian, Robert Indiana, Christo, Ed Ruscha, Lucas Samaras, Cavellini, Les Levine, Edward Gorey, Roy Lichtenstein, Ray Johnson, Ed Higgins, et al. This copy inscribed in 2001 by Myers to Andreas Brown, owner of the legendary Gotham Book Mart in New York, with an accompanying holograph note laid in. Myers revived the Money project during the Covid-19 pandemic; a second volume of responses, More Money, was published in 2022. Of this original version, OCLC locates twelve institutions with copies, including MoMA, the Getty, and Yale.
