Mostra di Munari

[MUNARI, Bruno]; Dino Buzzati, text

[MUNARI, Bruno]; Dino Buzzati, text

Milan: Galleria Borromini Edizioni, 1948. [24]pp; b&w illus. Saddle-stapled in printed self-wraps, 4-3/4 x 3-1/4 in.

Diminutive catalog for a solo show of Munari's work at the Galleria Borromini in Milan, at which he exhibited the Macchine Inutili and Concavo-Convesso sculptural works. An introductory note from the gallery is followed by a five-page text, laudatory but somewhat tongue-in-cheek, by Italian writer and artist Dino Buzzati, who begins "Munari has promised, for these lines I am voluntarily writing about him, to give me one of his macchine inutili" (our translation). Illustrated with a frontispiece of Munari, and six photo-reproductions of his works, including a center spread. All text in Italian. A scarce and ephemeral work; OCLC locates a single holding, at the Frick Art Research Library.

Very good, with rubbing and a tiny corner chip to rear cover.
