An analysis of the Great Depression, then in its second year, by American writer and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Walter Lippmann (1889-1974), noted among other works for his 1922 book Public Opinion. Per the publisher's foreword, this title "drawn from the series of editorial articles which Mr. Lippmann is writing for the New York Herald Tribune." No. 5 in the John Day Pamphlets series. Uncommon.
