Letters from Wittgenstein, Abridged in Ghent

KOSUTH, Joseph

KOSUTH, Joseph

Gent: Imschoot, Uitgevers, 1992. 150pp; 26 mounted b&w photographs. French wraps, with mounted photograph to front cover. Twist to textblock from mis-shelving (correctable); light creasing to spine. Very good.

Conceptual artist's book consisting of a facsimile reproduction of Paul Englemann's Letters From Ludwig Wittgenstein (Oxford: Basil Blackwell, 1967), printed in light gray ink, with photographs of buildings and streets in Ghent, Belgium mounted to 26 pages. A polemical work taking aim at predatory urban renewal and its concomitant erasure of historical and architectural memory.
