J.K. : The Inside Job

KOETHER, Jutta

KOETHER, Jutta

Graz, Austria: Galerie Bleich-Rossi, 1992. [112]pp; b&w illus. 8vo. Green vinyl wraps. Near fine, with toning/fading to edges of leaves.

Artist's book documenting the titular project by German artist, musician, and critic Jutta Koether (b. 1958), demonstrative of an early vein of work which Koether has described in interview as "conceptual art based and founded on painting." Koether invited members of the New York art world to visit her studio to view a painting-in-progress on the floor. Here she presents her typed and dated records of the wide-ranging conversations that ensued, along with xeroxed pages from philosophical texts and photographs of her studio and paintings. The result is what Koether in her introduction describes as an experiment in "dealing with the world, with art, with people, the "found" and the "unfounded"." All text in English. Scarce; OCLC locates just four holdings; only MOMA in the US.
