Moore Galleries presents The Joint Show [Zig-Zag]

GRIFFIN, Rick, et al.

GRIFFIN, Rick, et al.

San Francisco: Moore Galleries, 1967. [9] loose leaves and conjugate leaves of mustard-colored stock, with monochrome illustrations and text; one smaller tri-fold sheet printed in purple, yellow, and orange, with photograph of contributors to recto and psychedelic-style title art to verso. Housed in a folded card case representing an oversized sleeve of Zig-Zag brand cigarette papers, 10 x 5-7/8 in. Contents about fine; case toned, worn, and with flattening creases to the sides. Complete save for the illustrated postcards, five or six of which (of 12 total) were reportedly included with each copy.

Catalog for a landmark exhibition of psychedelic art, which opened at the Moore Galleries on July 17, 1967, and featured the so-called Big Five of psychedelic rock posters, Rick Griffin, Alton Kelley, Victor Moscoso, Stanley Mouse, and Wes Wilson. Each of those artists represented here by a folded sheet containing a photo-portrait by Bob Seidemann and reproduced artworks; with unfolded single-sheets for three additional artists, Richard Chesse, Richard William Leonard, and Gerhard Nicholson, as well as a photo-illustrated title-sheet. A scarce and desirable piece of Summer of Love ephemera. N.B. To restore the case's three-dimensionality, we have fashioned an interior support from acid-free backing board.
