Artist's book pairing autobiographical texts (versos) with black-and-white self-portraits (rectos); the only published iteration in a series of such bookworks created by American multi-disciplinary artist Glenda Hydler between 1972 and 1977. "The juxtaposition of texts and photographs creates a play-off between the intense emotion of the verbal expression and the cooler, more objective description of the world of appearances, and thus makes a statement about the different layers of reality that define personal experience" (Shelly Rice, in Artists' Books: A Critical Anthology and Sourcebook, p. 69).
