A loosely autobiographical AIDS novel by French writer and photographer Hervé Guibert (1955-1991), a close friend of philosopher Michel Foucault, here fictionalized as the character Muzil. A bestseller in France, Guibert's book propelled him to celebrity status for the final year of his life. Though unstated, this copy from the library of New York School poet, librettist, and publisher Kenward Elmslie (1929-2022).
