STRÖM, Carl-Erik; Mats B., text
Ahus, Sweden: Kalejdoskop, Förlag, 1979. First edition. 64pp; b&w plates. 4to. Sewn in photo-illustrated wraps. Very good, with light bump to lower fore-corner of textblock, hinge and corner wear. Half-title signed and inscribed by Mats B. to Alison [Knowles] and Dick [Higgins], thanking them for a "wonderful US time."
Presentation copy of this collection of photographs by Finnish sculptor-turned-photographer Carl-Erik Ström (b. 1938), whose conceptual work hinges, often humorously, on the interplay between images and their titles/texts. With an essay at rear by Lewis Carroll ("Photography Extraordinary"), and an introduction unpacking Ström's philosophical dimensions by Swedish artist and arts critic Mats B. (Mats Birger Rindeskär, 1951-2009), who has inscribed the volume to Fluxus artist and Something Else Press publisher Dick Higgins and his wife, artist Alison Knowles. All text in Swedish and English.
