RITTER, Jess, and Grover Lewis, eds.

RITTER, Jess, and Grover Lewis, eds.

San Francisco: Chandler Publishing Company, 1972. 143pp; b&w illus; bound-in 7-inch flexi disc record. 4to. Illustrated wraps. Rubbing to hinges; light cover wear and soiling. Very good.

An anthology of writings, comix, photographs, and music responding to the theme of media in America: "Instead of adding to the distancing analytic quibble over the force and morality of contemporary media, we have chosen to work from the inside, to present the issues, to feature articles, photo-essays, stories, songs, and poems from people who are a part of media itself" (introduction). With contributions from Nelson Algren, Steve McNamara, Ira Rifkin, Rick Beban (on underground radio), Fred Hamil, Maitland Zane, Al Masarik, Jon Stewart, Wells Twombly, Grover Lewis, Tom Buckley (on Warren Hinckle and "pirate journalists"), et al., and a bound-in flexi disc of songs by cowboy-poet Kell Robertson. Rather uncommon in the trade.
