ROSSET, Barney, ed.
NY: Grove Press, 1960. 192pp; illus. Sewn-binding in illustrated wraps. Soiling to textblock fore-edge and bottom corner; wear to spine and hinges. Very good.
A sound copy of this noteworthy early issue of Evergreen Review, guest-edited by Roger Shattuck and Simon Watson Taylor; a selection of texts by writers associated with the parodic philosophy of 'Pataphysics, including inventor Alfred Jarry, writers associated with the later Collège de 'Pataphysique, among them Raymond Queneau, Boris Vian, Jacques Prévert, Alfred Jarry, and logical predecessors such as Marcel Schwob, Félix Fénéon, and René Daumal. Remains one of the best overviews of the tongue-in-cheek literary movement.
