First edition of this iconic photobook by polymathic German artist Alfred Ehrhardt (1901-1984); an obsessive and compelling study of the abstract patterns left on mudflats by the receding tide, and a late example of the New Vision aesthetic program, as noted in Parr & Badger, v1 (p.112). Black-and-white plates, preceded by an introduction by Kurt Dingelstedt, and a brief statement by Ehrhardt, both in German.
