Inscribed later edition of Delany's longest and most ambitious work since Dhalgren (1975), an erotic mystery hovering under the shadow of the AIDS crisis. This copy from the library of former executive director of New York's Anthology Film Archives, Robert Haller (1942-2021); signed and inscribed to him by Delany in 2002. The plot of The Mad Man concerns a philosophy student who becomes obsessed with unravelling the death a decade earlier of a gay Korean-American philosopher, and unwittingly falls into his predecessor's habit of engaging in risky sexual encounters with homeless men. First published in 1994 by Richard Kasak, this edition reportedly with significant changes from the original.
