Doubly inscribed presentation copy of this memoir detailing in a series of prose vignettes the relationship between artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) and his muse and on-again-off-again lover Suzanne Mallouk (b. 1960). This copy signed and inscribed by both Clement and Mallouk in "NYC 2001" to "Jamie," whom Mallouk thanks for "all your support in helping this book come into being." We thus suspect that the recipient was Jamie Byng, CEO and publisher of Cannongate Books, who was responsible for establishing Cannongate's Payback Press imprint; likely presented to him on the occasion of the book's American debut.
