CALVINO, Italo
CALVINO, Italo
London: Collins, 1959. First edition. 254pp. Red textured paper over boards; dust jacket. Moderate foxing to textblock edges, sometimes penetrating shallowly onto leaves; foxing and offsetting to endpapers. Unclipped jacket with light foxing to flap edges, rear, and interior. Good or better in a very good jacket, which presents quite nicely.
First UK edition of this 1957 novel by Italian writer Italo Calvino (1923-1985), a philosophical comedy about a boy who chooses to spend his life living in the trees. Translated by Archibald Colquhoun. N.B. This apparently an uncommon variant binding, as most firsts are seen in teal textured-paper boards.
