A small archive of materials relating to writer, musician, and transgender activist Christine Beatty. Central to the grouping is an inscribed copy of Misery Loves Company, a self-published collection of poems and short prose works of a mostly autobiographical nature, detailing Beatty’s turbulent gender transition, struggles with addiction, and encounters as a prostitute in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district. Not long after publishing her book, Beatty founded a heavy metal band, Glamazon, who debuted in February 1995 and are notable for being one of the first trans-fronted rock groups. Included here are six color photographs of Glamazon performing at the Folsom Street Fair in September 1995 (dated by way of corresponding images found on Beatty’s website), as well as three xeroxed flyers promoting Bay Area Glamazon shows.

Laid in are six 4x6 in. color photographs, fine, and three 8.5 x 11 in. xeroxed flyers, all folded horizontally and with varying degrees wear, one with small portions of loss at top corners.
