BARAKA, Amiri
BARAKA, Amiri
Oakland: Blackdotpress, 2001. 12pp. Saddle-stapled in illustrated wraps. Near fine, with light soiling to rear cover. Signed, inscribed, and dated in 2009 by Baraka at first page.
First edition of this controversial long poem by Amiri Baraka (1934-2014), written in the immediate aftermath of the September 11 attacks; an angry salvo taking aim at America's history of racism and imperialism as the true causes of terrorism; most notorious, however, for the accusations it stirred regarding Baraka's antisemitism. N.B. This edition published with in both yellow wraps and the gray seen here; we are unsure if any distinction of priority exists between the two.
