A systematic artist's book consisting of 365 photographic self-portraits, taken daily over the span of a single year, with each day's date affixed to Bakhchanyan's forehead. A self-reflexive project documenting the passage of time, with clear affinities to On Kawara's date paintings and Tehching Hsieh's One Year Performance 1980–1981 (Time Clock Piece). Bakhchanyan (1938-2009) was a Ukrainian-born Armenian writer and conceptual artist; an active participant in the Soviet dissident art scene, he emigrated to the U.S. in 1974. Edited by Norton Dodge; with a brief biography of Bakhchanyan by Margarita Tupitsyn at rear, which has been stamped with a red "Bullshit" stamp bearing Bakhchanyan's name. Scarce; OCLC reports eight holdings.
