ART & LANGUAGE
ART & LANGUAGE
Banbury, England: Art & Language, 1977. 67pp. Wraps. Toning and light soiling to covers; mild spot of soiling to one leaf; "Nova Scotia College of Art and Design Library" ownership and discard stamps to front cover. Very good.
Uncommon later issue of this seminal organ of the Art & Language group, a forum for critical dialogue about the conceptual art world founded in 1969 by artists Terry Atkinson, David Bainbridge, Michael Baldwin, and Harold Hurrell. With six unattributed articles and an introductory poem beginning on the cover and apparently taking aim at the bourgeois world of institutional scholarship: "Go through the gatehouse / Into the celebrated modern campus, / And there they are, the would-be well known...." Allen, Artists' Magazines, p. 237.
