First edition of this children's book, generally acknowledged as the first to feature a non-gendered child as its principal character. Originally published as a short story in the December 1972 issue of Ms. magazine,X has been reprinted in numerous feminist and science fiction anthologies (both with and without the Jacqueline Chwast illustrations, here in their first appearance), and was the basis for a 2016 animated short film, Baby X, directed by Brendan Bradley.

Softening to cloth at spine ends. Three leaves with tiny crimps to top fore-edge. Musty odor. Unclipped ("$7.50") jacket with several short closed but creased edge tears. Mild foxing to interior, with a few scattered spots to exterior. Small patch of light sunning affecting the left 1" of orange title block on front panel. No fading to spine panel. A near fine copy in a very good (+) jacket, quite presentable in fresh mylar.
