First edition of this photobook by American street and documentary photographer Jill Freedman (1939-2019), shot over the course of two years she spent on patrol in Manhattan with members of the NYPD. Plates presented with prose texts by Freedman opposite, capturing the circumstances, language, and/or pathos of each image. An intimate, humane, and frequently brutal collection.
