Complete run in four volumes of this journal collecting writings and art, both historical and contemporary, by members of the international Surrealist movement. Published by Franklin and Penelope Rosemont, co-founders of the Chicago Surrealist Group (est. 1966) and publishers beginning in 1967 of Black Swan Press, a vital force in the continued relevance of Surrealism in the latter half of the 20th century. Among the journal's dozens of contributors are Hans Bellmer, André Breton, Leonora Carrington, Aimé Cesaire, Isidore Ducasse, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Paul Garon, Ted Joans, Philip Lamantia, Joyce Mansour, and both Franklin and Penelope Rosemont.

Perfect-bound in glossy printed wraps (red, white, gold, and green, respectively). 10-3/4 x 7-3/8 in. 80, 64, 120, and 222pp. No. 1 with rubbing and some faint brown soiling to front cover (difficult to see in photo). No. 2 with foxing to edges of textblock. No. 3 with wear (some small areas of surface loss) along hinges, and at corners and spine ends. No. 4 with rubbing along hinges, slight edge wear. "Not added by University of Michigan Library" stamp on title pages of nos. 1 and 2; binding glue a little fragile on both of same. Else all volumes very good or better.
